Valtra Selects MCI to Deliver Global MPLS Network Across 17 Countries

Helsinki, Finland (ots/PRNewswire)

MCI, Inc. (Nasdaq: MCIP)
today announced that it is delivering a multi-country MPLS-based
communication network to the Finnish company Valtra, one of the
leading tractor manufacturers in the world. The network will link
Valtra's sales subsidiaries across the world with tractor and diesel
engine factories in Finland and Brazil. MCI is providing both fixed
and remote access solutions to enable Valtra to use a broad variety
of communication tools to support its business requirements.
The cornerstone of Valtra's operations is a modular system that
enables the production of tractors which are tailored to each
customer's requirements. This system relies heavily on
communications, making the choice of the provider an important
element of the company's business process.
"MCI has an impressive IP expertise, one of the most advanced
global networks of its kind and shows an extraordinary dedication to
customer service," says Teppo Kupari, IT Manager of Valtra. "The MCI
MPLS-based IP network gives us the flexibility we need to communicate
quickly and reliably today and in the future."
MCI will provide fixed and remote access connections linking all
sales subsidiaries to the factories, providing the Valtra
organization with reliable and secure network services to host and
run their mission critical sales, order and delivery transactions.
The communication network will also be used for comprehensive
back-office support, including office applications, e-mail exchange
and Internet access.
The sales subsidiaries will be directly connected via MCI Private
IP service. The MPLS foundation of MCI's Private IP helps businesses
gain better control over their networks and enhance efficiency by
leveraging the traffic and bandwidth management capabilities of MPLS.
MCI Private IP, which has the certification as a "Cisco Powered
Network," is ideal for companies that require the highest quality of
service to carry converged voice, video and data over a secure
private network(1), while providing access to the Internet and a
secure means to connect remote users.
Valtra will also use its MCI Internet Dial Corporate service to
provide the organization with remote access-based connections. This
solution gives Valtra the security, reliability and premium
performance of the global MPLS based Private IP network together with
the benefits of increased operational efficiency, through remote
access solutions enabling mobility or through linking temporary
business partners seamlessly to the private network independent of
local access providers.
"MCI's commitment is to provide our customers -- in Finland and
across the world -- with the highest possible levels of service
quality, innovation and value," says Pekka Inkinen, Country Leader
and Sales Director for MCI in Finland. "We are currently expanding
our MPLS network further to help more companies simplify their
communications and leverage the business advantages of IP."
MCI is extending the coverage of MPLS enabled nodes and network
locations across MCI's global network in the regions where Valtra has
operations. This will ensure that MCI meets their requirements today
and in the future to deliver converged digital applications, enabling
them to do business in new and more efficient ways.
