Lundbeck Selects MCI to Provide a Fully-Managed Worldwide Network
Copenhagen, Denmark (ots/PRNewswire) -
- International pharmaceutical Company Chooses MCI Private IP, IP Dedicated and Colocation to Link 58 Sites Across Europe, Asia and North and South America
MCI, Inc. (Nasdaq: MCIP) today announced that the international pharmaceutical company H. Lundbeck A/S has selected MCI to link 58 of its site across Europe, Asia and North and South America using MCI Private IP, a network-based MPLS solution, and MCI IP Dedicated, as well as colocation services.
H. Lundbeck A/S is engaged in research and development, production, marketing and sale of drugs for the treatment of psychiatric and neurological disorders such as depression, schizophrenia and Alzheimer's disease. Lundbeck also offers education to health care providers, patients and their relatives.
"We are a research-based pharmaceutical company, and as such our demands on a communication solution are extreme when it comes to security, reliability and performance," says Jens Lybye, Divisional Director, Infrastructure Services at Lundbeck. "Not only has MCI met all our requirements with great flexibility, offering us a solution tailored to our needs, but they have shown an outstanding professionalism from the first meeting. We also appreciate MCI's global presence coupled with a local single-point of contact and centralised billing."
To connect its sales offices, production sites and warehouses, Lundbeck will use MCI Private IP, an MPLS-based IP communication, for all its mission-critical data traffic, production, research and development, and the company's financial control system. An MCI IP Dedicated connection provides each regional centre, working as a hub for all other sites, with Internet access. The IT platform of the regional centres in Asia, North and South America are collocated to MCI's Network Colocation.
MCI Private IP is a high performance, reliable network that can offer maximum flexibility, security and connectivity. It can carry all types of traffic on a single VPN -- voice, data, business-critical data, video and email -- and provides a strategic platform for IP Convergence. Each traffic type is managed according to its individual service level requirements over a single connection, thus consolidating bandwidth use more efficiently.
Earlier this year, MCI announced that its Private IP solution is a certified Cisco Powered Network service and disclosed its plans to expand the global MCI Private IP network to more than 110 cities in 48 countries worldwide by the end of 2005.
MCI IP Dedicated provides an industrial strength connection to the Internet. MCI operates a global 'Clarke, Benjamin (UK - London)' Internet Protocol (IP) network, which provides connectivity in more than 100 countries and operates at speeds up to OC-192, the fastest available. MCI delivers industry-leading service levels, backed with end-to-end service level agreements covering performance and availability.
MCI also offers a full spectrum of hosting services from data centre services to fully managed applications and advanced IT services. The portfolio of hosting solutions is designed to meet all networking, infrastructure, and application hosting requirements. The hosting services are offering secure, flexible, data centre environments and network connectivity to MCI's public and private networks. MCI has more than 130 data centres throughout the world.
"Lundbeck's decision to select MCI as their communication provider underlines our strong commitment to customer service and client satisfaction," says Frank Enevoldsen, country leader for MCI in Denmark. "This is another example of how MCI's global reach, combined with the expertise of our local sales organisations, can create tangible benefits for our customers."
H. Lundbeck A/S is an international pharmaceutical company engaged in the research and development, production, marketing and sale of drugs for the treatment of psychiatric and neurological disorders. In 2004, the company's revenue was DKK 9.7 billion. The number of employees is approximately 5,000.
