Victor Vasarely at EuroAirport: Tower banner puts the Musée Unterlinden in the spotlight

As of today, a banner visible from afar adorns EuroAirport’s control tower. It displays the artwork Vega Pâl created by artist Victor Vasarely, thereby bringing the substantial collection of the Musée Unterlinden in Colmar to the attention of an international audience. The colourful motif with its optical effects is a striking example of Op Art and catches the eye even from a distance.
By means of the new tower banner, EuroAirport is emphasising once again its commitment to support culture in the Tri-Border Area. The prominent tower surface is used specifically to showcase cultural institutions and outstanding works of art from the region and to promote them beyond national borders. The Airport sees itself as a platform to making art available to a wider, international audience.
The selected work, Vega Pâl, comes from Victor Vasarely's famous “Vega” series and plays with geometric shapes, colour gradients and optical illusions. The apparent curvature and movement of the composition are characteristic of kinetic art and lend the motif a strong visual dynamism. EuroAirport is delighted to be able to bring this iconic work of modern art into the public sphere.
The Musée Unterlinden in Colmar is one of the most visited art museums in France. Its collection offers a unique journey through nearly 7 000 years of art history, from prehistory to contemporary art. The tower banner makes this cultural diversity visible far beyond airport limits.
The next major exhibition at Musée Unterlinden, “Conversation(s)”, will take place from June 26 to December 7, 2026 and will bring masterpieces of medieval art into dialogue with modern and contemporary works.
