Federal Councillor Leuenberger becomes patron of REACH Environment Prize 2002

Basel (ots)

Federal Councillor Moritz Leuenberger, Head of the
Federal Department for Environment, Transport, Energy and
Communications, has become the patron of the International REACH
Environment Prize 2002. The "Pro Aqua-Pro Vita" foundation is
announcing this award, which is worth 50,000 Swiss francs, for the
fourth time and will award it in October 2002 in conjunction with
REACH for process solutions, the international trade fair in Basel
(October 15 - 18, 2002). The international trade fair REACH
celebrates its inaugural event in 2002. The topics of the fair
include industrial processes, process technology and environment
management.
Private individuals, organisations, institutions, companies and
public bodies from all countries may apply for the REACH Environment
Prize 2002. The examined projects must represent either an innovation
in technology, processes or products and/or suitable measures for its
practical implementation. Their realisation should make a
considerable contribution towards environmental protection and use
natural resources responsibly.
Applications for the REACH Environment Prize 2002 can still be
submitted until March 31, 2002 (date on postmark). Detailed
registration documents can either be ordered on paper from the "Pro
Aqua - Pro Vita" Foundation, c/o MCH Basel Exhibition Ltd, P.O. Box,
CH-4021 Basel, telephone +41/58/206'22'41, fax +41/58/206'21'89, or
via e-mail from reach@messe.ch. They are also available on the
internet: www.reachfair.ch.
The REACH Environment Prize 2002 continues the tradition of the
internationally renowned M.U.T. Environment Prize, which the "Pro
Aqua-Pro Vita" foundation awarded at M.U.T., the European environment
technology exhibition in Basel, until the year 2000.
REACH for process solutions and r+d in life sciences: Two new
trade fairs in Basel The industrial developments have made it
necessary to replace the M.U.T. environment technology exhibition and
the Ilmac chemistry fair - two internationally renowned trade fairs
in Basel - with newly aligned fairs. The new REACH for process
solutions is dedicated to industrial processes, process technology
and environment management, while r+d in life sciences is specialised
on research and development.
Both fairs are organised by Swiss Exhibition and will take place
for the first time from October 15 to 18, 2002 in Basel, featuring an
accompanying programme of events.
