Joint venture HelveticWind acquires second wind farm in Germany
Bern (ots) - Through their joint venture HelveticWind, Energie Wasser Bern (ewb) and BKW FMB Energy Ltd (BKW) are acquiring Lüderstorf-Parstein wind farm from Ventotec GmbH of Lower Saxony. Situated in the north-eastern German state of Brandenburg, the wind farm has been connected to the grid since the end of 2004. With 15 turbines and an installed capacity of 22.5 MW, the facility produces around 53 GWh of CO2-free electricity. This equates to the annual power consumption of just over 14,000 households.
Acquisition of this wind farm takes HelveticWind one step closer to its goal of securing for itself a wind power portfolio with a capacity in excess of 100 MW over the next few years. At the end of March 2010 the joint venture acquired Sendenhorst wind farm near the city of Nordrhein-Westfalen, with an installed capacity of 14.5 MW and a production volume of 29 GWh. The parties have agreed not to disclose the cost of the transaction.
