Lausanne (ots)

From 12th to 14th September 2019, the Zermatt Summit takes place in Zermatt, Switzerland, for the eighth time. "Entrepreneurship to serve the common good" is the name of this years' conference topic. 25 globally active entrepreneurs such as Alisée de Tonnac, recently nominated by Forbes Magazine as a leading "Social Entrepreneur under 30", or Giuseppe Lavazza, the first coffee market leader to launch 100% compostable and biodegradable coffee capsules in 2015, show in their keynote speeches and as panelists how they break through innovation with the traditional logic of mainstream business.

More than 150 business and opinion leaders from Switzerland, Europe and overseas are expected at the high-profile business forum. One of the declared aims of the Zermatt Summit is: The classical economic model, must be transformed to focus on people- inspired by nature and taking into account the needs of all people.

It takes a radical departure from the current economical system that has prevailed since industrialization, which has been instrumental in helping humanity quickly exhaust natural resources. The Zermatt Summit uses concrete examples from cutting-edge technology and modern entrepreneurship to showcase that the current model is not sustainable. The projects developed by the conference not only promote a new circular economy, but also create multi-income streams that decouple companies from existing core business models and turn them into more stakeholder-oriented organizations.

Platform for exchange and relationship building

Engaged and cutting edge speakers who have something to say and participants who want to be inspired meet once a year at the Zermatt Summit. They use this unique platform to engage with "change makers" from civil society, education, science and politics to bring more humanity into the process of globalization and to develop new models that serve the people and the common good. The economic summit stands for ethical business in an increasingly complex world.

Zermatt is the powerhouse for change

People need to come together to instigate change. When people meet on a personal level in an inspiring place like Zermatt, things happen that are not planned or could not be planned. There is no online structure that can replace this experience. Therefore, the initiator and organizer of the Zermatt Summit, Christopher Wasserman, has consciously decided on this venue. Zermatt is away from the everyday hectic world. The journey to the Valais Mountains requires dedication which is much needed if one wishes to make any kind of change. Wasserman says: "We want to provide a place where people with different life concepts meet to be inspired, to exchange innovation, to network and to jointly create new business models for a better world."

The conferences are organized by the Zermatt Summit Foundation, an independent NGO recognized for its public utility by the Swiss state. The Foundation seeks to bring together stakeholders from civil society, business, politics, religion and the arts to bring more humanity into the process of globalization and give leaders practical recommendations for an economy that benefits people and the common good. Initiator, sponsor and president of the Zermatt Summit Foundation is Christopher Wasserman, founder of a Swiss family business.
