Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)
The humanitarian association 11AIDE, with its
headquarters located in Vernay (Fribourg), has filed a charge with
the International Criminal Court in The Hague, accusing Hyppolite
KANAMBE, alias Joseph KABILA, current President of the DRC, of the
charge of violation of Articles 6, 7and 8 of the Rome Statute of the
International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity, war crimes
and crimes of aggression.
With its headquarters in Switzerland, a neutral country, 11AIDE
(Assistance Interactive pour la Démocratie et l'Education), is a
humanitarian association working for the 11 Provinces of the DRC. It
has gathered extensive information on serious crimes committed by
President Hyppolite KANAMBE, alias Joseph KABILA. This information is
compiled in a damning, 7-page report summarising the accounts of
direct witnesses, victims or parents who still reside in the DRC,
some of them in detention, others occupying political and military
posts close to the Presidency. Hence, the need to protect their
identity in view of the danger of reprisals.
1st charge filed, concerning: crimes against humanity - war crimes
- crimes of aggression
The charge concerns, in particular, certain 'operations' sponsored
by Hyppolite KANAMBE, alias Joseph KABILA, before and during his
leadership of the police and army. We are referring to solitary
confinement, imprisonment, torture, assassinations, death squads,
cleansing operations, etc. since 1998. There have been thousands of
anonymous deaths, but the criminal charges relate only to a certain
number of abuses with dates and names of the executioners and the
victims.
2nd charge being prepared: planned and carried out sexual violence
Even though international opinion continues relentlessly to
denounce it, the sexual violence and torture perpetrated in the east
of the DRC by the personal army ('the GR') of Hyppolite KANAMBE,
alias Joseph KABILA, in connivance with Rwanda, is planned and
carried out to rid the rich eastern provinces of their population who
survived the previous wars of aggression in Rwanda and Uganda.
Recently, several groups of sexually assaulted women have requested
that 11AIDE file a charge with the International Criminal Court in
The Hague.
3rd charge being prepared: organised crime - trafficking of
radioactive materials - money laundering
Even though this country is the richest in Africa, taking into
account all natural resources and minerals, it is also the poorest
country in the world. Its GDP (estimated in 2007 at $300 per year and
per inhabitant, which is about CHF 1 per day) does not benefit its
population, estimated at 66.5 million inhabitants, who have had no
access to medical care or education for over 10 years. At present,
life expectancy of Congolese men and women has dropped below 54
years. However, the ruling powers and the companies continue to
illegally exploit the masses, enriching themselves without limit ...
The investigations underway are exploring this volatile crisis
from three perspectives:
- The generalised and carried out corruption by the criminal
organisation of Hyppolite KANAMBE, who is merely a continuation of
Mobutuism. His political party, the PPRD, is a 'hybrid of Mobutuism'!
Moreover, all internal opposition, no matter how weak, is
immediately suppressed in bloodshed, the freedom of the press and
opinion no longer exists (The DRC is in fourth place in the press
repression index).
  • The trafficking of uranium... On the back of a constant war of aggression and permanent paramilitary occupation, Hyppolite KANAMBE continues to supply terrorists with radioactive materials.
  • Money laundering and financial fraud is at its height amongst the hard core Congolese and foreigners who manage and advise Hyppolite KANAMBE's questionable transactions in Europe and Switzerland.
A press conference will be held, in the presence of Congolese
criminal investigators, in Fribourg on Monday 26 May (10.30) at the
NH Fribourg Hotel (Grand-Place 14).
