Cuxhaven, February 10, 2009 - Plambeck Neue
Energien AG announces completion of the Calau wind farm in
Brandenburg. There, four wind turbines of the Vestas V90 type, each
with a nominal output of 2 Megawatt (MW), have been set up. These
modern and efficient wind turbines, with a hub height of 125 metres
each, have a total height of 170 metres. The commissioning of the
wind farm has already taken place and is to be followed by the hand
over to Babcock & Brown Wind Partners.
With a total nominal output of eight MW, the plant can cover the
annual energy requirements of more than 5,200 private households,
which means that about 12,000 fewer tons of carbon dioxide and other
pollutants from conventional power stations will enter the atmosphere
each year; the plants thus make a major contribution to environmental
protection.
"By using turbines with a hub height of 125 metres, Calau is one of
the first wind farms in Germany to make optimum use of the wind
potential of this site. Its successful completion serves yet again to
show that we are effectively combining climate protection and good
economic sense", according to Bernd Paulsen, member of the Board of
Directors responsible for Project Development and Implementation. He
explained that the height of the wind turbine is crucial for making
the best possible use of the potential of the location, as the wind
strength increases with an increase in altitude. Moreover, Calau is a
good example of the fact that there are still suitable areas for
making use of wind energy in Germany.
"By completing this, the second wind farm of 2009, we succeeded in
commissioning a nominal output of 18 MW this year. In the coming
months additional wind farms are to be completed and sold to several
parties", says Martin Billhardt, Chairman of the Board of Directors
of PNE, looking forward to additional projects currently under
construction. He is therefore optimistic about the future development
of Plambeck Neue Energien AG: "Implementing current projects in our
domestic market, expanding our cross-border business and our
off-shore wind energy activities all represent crucial elements for
the success of our company. We have therefore staked out a good
position in order to benefit from the attractive opportunities that
the wind market offers us."
Corporate profile:
Plambeck Neue Energien AG, with its headquarter in Cuxhaven, plans
and implements wind-farm projects on land (onshore) and at sea
(off-shore). The key competence of the company is the development,
project planning, implementation and financing of wind farms,
together with their operation and sale with subsequent service. The
company has already set up 86 wind farms with 482 wind energy systems
and a total nominal output of 669 MW.
Alongside the business activity on the established German market -
onshore wind-farm projects with a nominal output of more than 400 MW
under development, of which around 100 MW are already under
construction - the company is increasingly expanding into dynamic
growth markets. Via joint ventures, Plambeck Neue Energien AG is
already represented in Hungary, Bulgaria, Turkey, Great Britain,
Ireland and Romania. In these countries, wind-farm projects with a
nominal output of up to 1,430 MW are under development and are to be
completed in the medium term. In addition, a subsidiary was founded
in the USA in 2008.
Two major off-shore wind farm projects developed by PNE AG have
already been approved and entry into promising off-shore foreign
markets is currently being investigated.
