M-Systems and Actimagine Team Up on Smart Display Software Solutions for Video on Mobile Phones

Paris (ots/PRNewswire)

Actimagine announces that M-Systems, a
leader in smart personal storage, and Actimagine, a provider of
highly optimized software video codecs for mobile phones and consumer
electronics devices, are teaming up on smart display software
solutions for video on high-density SIM cards powered by M-Systems'
MegaSIM(R) platform. The combination of high-density storage and
smart display software solutions is set to enable multimedia-rich
content such as movies and video clips on mobile handsets and empower
mobile network operators (MNOs) by creating a better mobile
experience for subscribers and smarter mobile services.
Actimagine offers power-efficient video codecs, interactive vector
graphics renderers and DRM solutions for multimedia-rich content
display such as TV-like movies and music video clips, games,
advertisement and user interfaces. The MegaSIM platform for
high-density SIMs enables MNOs to pre-install and secure this
content, making it immediately accessible to subscribers and
encouraging them to easily download more of their favorite multimedia
files.
Leveraging M-Systems' flash expertise with its field-proven
M-Safe(TM) crypto core technology, globally trusted in millions of
smart cards, the MegaSIM platform, incorporating M-Systems'
TrueFFS(R) flash file management, combines high-density flash storage
(64 megabytes to 1 gigabyte), processing power, high-speed data
protocols and crypto functionality. M-Systems' MegaSIM platform far
enhances typical SIM architecture while maintaining full
compatibility with legacy industry standards. SIM cards powered by
M-Systems' MegaSIM platform, such as M-Systems' M-SIM MegaSIM series,
will provide MNOs with an intuitive, ubiquitous interface and a
high-density, high-speed platform. By deploying these SIM cards, MNOs
can increase revenue streams, while at the same time offer a new
sales channel for software developers and, last but not least, a
smarter mobile usage experience for subscribers.
"We are pleased to announce this collaboration with M-Systems for
high-density SIM cards," said Andre Pagnac, Actimagine CEO.
"Actimagine's display software solutions are compatible with all
feature phones and smartphones and can be used for pre-recorded and
streamed business models. Combined with the MegaSIM platform, they
pave the way for new business opportunities for MNOs."
"By offering high-density flash memory, smart card security, high
performance and processing power all within the SIM, M-Systems'
MegaSIM platform brings a unique value proposition to the mobile
ecosystem," said Simone Cavallo, general manager of M-Systems' MNO
division. "The ability to watch video content on mobile devices has
become a reality with the 3G services of today. Using the abundant,
high-density memory provided by the MegaSIM platform to securely
store video content, Actimagine enables MNOs to offer better and more
attractive services to their subscribers and provide for smarter
mobile services."
Actimagine will exhibit at the Embedded System Expo &
Conference in Tokyo, Japan, from June 28th to 30th.
