Nissan Europe Reports May Sales

Nissan Europe reported total
sales of 48,364 vehicles (1) in May 2006, an increase of 1.5% over
the same month last year. Year to date Nissan sold 218,294 vehicles
in Europe, a decrease of 4.9% compared to the same period last year.
Highlights by Country
  • Nissan in France sold 4,204 units in May, registering a 4.8% decrease compared to last year. Year to date Nissan sold 20,077 units in France, down 1.2% compared to the same period last year.
  • In Germany, Nissan sold 5,394 units in May, representing an increase of 2.4% compared to last year. Year to date Nissan sold 22,157 units in Germany, up 1.1% compared to the same period last year.
  • In Italy, Nissan sold 4,816 units in May, up 47.8% compared to last year. Year to date Nissan sold 23,368 units in Italy, down 10.3% compared to the same period last year.
  • Nissan in Spain sold 5,770 units in May, down 15.9% compared to last year. Year to date Nissan sold 26,713 units in Spain, down 9.5% compared to the same period last year.
  • In the UK, Nissan sold 6,757 units, a decrease of 21.7% compared to last year. Year to date Nissan sold 37,519 units in the UK, down 16% compared to the same period last year.
  • In Russia, Nissan sold 5,652 units, an increase of 18% compared to last year. Year to date Nissan sold 21,162 units in Russia, up 46.3% compared to the same period last year.
Model Highlights
  • The Micra sold a total of 9,818 units in May representing a decrease of 28.2% against the same month last year. Year to date total Micra sales reached 52,218 units, down 24.4% compared to the same period last year.
  • The Micra C+C sold a total of 2,094 units in May. Year to date, Micra C+C sales reached 7,962 units.
  • NOTE sold a total of 8,401 units in May. Year to date, NOTE sales reached 23,668 units.
  • X-TRAIL sold 4,602 units in May, down 2.7% against the same month last year. Year to date total X-TRAIL sales reached 22,094 units, down 14.3% compared to the same period last year.
  • Murano sold 682 units in May, down 6.1% compared to last year. Year to date total Murano sales reached 3,562 units, up 3.8% compared to the same period last year.
  • Pathfinder sold 2,266 units in May, up 5% compared to last year. Year to date total Pathfinder sales reached 10,453 units, up 82.7% compared to the same period last year.
  • Navara sold 4,735 units in May. Year to date total Navara sales reached 19,597 units.
Nissan employs around 12,000 people in its European design,
research and development, manufacturing, logistics, and sales and
marketing operations. Last year, the company produced a total of
508,901 vehicles in its Spanish and British plants and sold 540,945
vehicles in Europe. Nissan Europe's Head Office is based in Trappes
(Paris), France.
