ACLI, A.T. Kearney, EDS, And SOLCORP Launch Global Financial Leadership Forum

Washington, DC (ots)

Strategic Partnerships Formed To Research Issues Shaping Global
Financial Playing Field
The American Council of Life Insurers
(ACLI), in partnership with A.T. Kearney, EDS, and SOLCORP, will be
hosting the inaugural summit of the Global Financial Leadership Forum
at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City on Nov. 17-19, 2002.
Aimed primarily at life insurers and reinsurers, the
two-and-a-half day summit will examine marketplace opportunities and
challenges brought on by economic globalization and industry
convergence - the narrowing distinctions among the various sectors of
the financial services industry. The goal of the summit is to
establish an ongoing forum in which key industry leaders receive
pertinent and valuable information on the future of the financial
services industry.
"A key component of the summit will be the release of research
findings by A.T. Kearney, EDS, and SOLCORP that will address
fundamental issues helping to shape the new global playing field,"
says Gaetano Geretto, president and CEO of Gerling Global Life
Insurance and chairman of this year's Global Forum Board of
Governors.
The inaugural board consists of leading global financial services
companies including: AFLAC, AXA, CHUBB, Citicorp, Dai-ichi Mutual
Life, Gerling Global Life, Hampton Re, Hartford Life, Lehman
Brothers, Lloyds of London, Manulife Japan, Max Re, Munich American
Reassurance, Nationwide, New York Life, Principal International, RGA
(Canada), and SunLife Financial.
Invited summit delegates will examine various business models and
analyze best practices and their probable effects on the industry.
Specific topics that will be addressed include international
accounting standards, financial services regulation convergence, cost
of capital and allocation, distribution optimization, securitization,
disintermediation, and pensions and asset management initiatives to
address global demographic challenges.
"Through the strategic initiatives and various topics covered
during the summit, delegates will be able to explore new business
concepts about insurance and their future role in financial
services," says Chris Orestis, senior vice president of ACLI. "The
Global Forum leadership will help position the various lines of
insurance within a global context and explore the impact of
globalization on the future of our industry."
At the conclusion of the summit, a first edition report
synthesizing the research and proceedings will be distributed
exclusively to all delegates. Throughout the year, ongoing
communications with summit delegates will be conducted through a
sponsored Web site designed specifically for the Global Financial
Leadership Forum.
This summit is limited to chief executive officers and senior
professionals responsible for international operations, as well as
industry and business line leaders from the insurance, reinsurance,
and financial security product areas. All summit delegates will be
reviewed by the Board of Governors to confirm participants'
eligibility. Recognized leaders from government, academia, and the
professions will be invited to attend and participate in the summit.
