Zurich (ots)

The management and IT consultancy AWK Group has appointed Peter Geissbühler as a new partner as of 1 January 2022. As an accredited mobility expert, Peter Geissbühler reinforces the "Smart Mobility" strategic division, which is defined as an international growth market in AWK's corporate strategy.

Peter Geissbühler has headed up the Road Transport division at AWK Group since 2014. He is an expert on all aspects of Smart Society, especially in connection with mobility issues, and specialises in project management. He is also involved in numerous associations and committees, including as chairman of the "Planning, Traffic Management and Heavy Traffic" standardisation and research commission of the VSS and as a member of the board of Innolab smart mobility. With this background and his network of connections, Peter Geissbühler will enable AWK to harness the enormous potential in the smart mobility business segment. For AWK, the mobility sector is one of the growth markets named in the corporate strategy "2025", which envisages an international expansion of this sector, particularly in Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.

Peter Geissbühler combines nearly 20 years of consulting and management experience with strong IT and data analysis skills in various industries. Before joining AWK, he spent almost four years at Alpiq in various roles, where he was responsible for the technological aspects of all market data applications, most recently as Head of Market Data & Analysis Applications. He has also worked for the software company Genevalogic/NetOp and the management consultancy Accenture, where he advised various major Swiss banks on digitalisation issues. He studied electrical engineering at the ETH and holds an MSc in Management, Technology and Economics (ETH MTEC).

On behalf of their clients from a wide range of industries, Peter Geissbühler and his team grapple with the technology-driven transformations that the mobility ecosystem is currently undergoing. This is also associated with new demands in the handling of ITC technologies and in the management of data. With its many years of experience in road transport and public transport, AWK is ideally positioned for the challenges ahead and is able to contribute its considerable expertise to help optimise the mobility system "from strategy to single signal" across all modes of transport. Since mobility does not end at national borders, international collaboration is indispensable. Ginkgo, Quint and AWK complement each other superbly in terms of shaping mobility at an international level, enabling, for example, solutions from the automotive and railway industries and the public sector to be profitably combined.

As Oliver Vaterlaus, CEO of AWK Group, explains: "Sustainable mobility is one of the really big social issues, not least because of the continuously growing volume of traffic and passengers and rapidly advancing urbanisation. Peter Geissbühler is one of the leading minds in Switzerland in the fields of smart mobility, smart society, and the strategic use of data. In his new role, he will be instrumental in developing and expanding our Smart Mobility strategic practice with even more power and drive."
