New Swissmem Executive Board members: Adam Gontarz from April 2023 and Noé Blancpain from 2024

Adam Gontarz and Noé Blancpain will be joining Swissmem's Executive Board from 1 April 2023 and 1 January 2024 respectively. Adam Gontarz has been Swissmem's Head of Industry Sectors & Technology since 2014. From 1 April 2023, he will be taking over the Digitalization & Innovation division and at the same time joining the Executive Board. Noé Blancpain is currently an independent partner with reflecta ag in Bern. Before that, he worked at the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research as a personal assistant to the Department Head and as Head of Communications. He will initially be joining Swissmem on 1 April 2023 as Head of Political Affairs. From 1 January 2024, he will be taking on the role of Head of Communications & Public Affairs as well as joining the Executive Board.

Practical industry experience and wide-ranging expertise

Adam Gontarz is currently responsible for the strategic and operational management of Swissmem's "Additive Manufacturing" and "Automotive" industry sectors. At the same time, he works as a guest lecturer in industrial communications, digitalization and innovation management at the OST and HSLU universities. Mr Gontarz is also the founder and CEO of ETH spin-off SIGMAtools GmbH, which offers innovative solutions in the field of data acquisition and analysis as well as resource optimization of complex mechatronic systems, machines and buildings. Before 2014, he was a research associate at the Institute of Machine Tools and Manufacturing at ETH Zurich. Adam Gontarz brings extensive expertise and hands-on industry experience to his new role as Head of Digitalization & Innovation. The current post holder Robert Rudolph is leaving Swissmem on 31 March 2023 to take on a new professional challenge. Swissmem would like to thank him for his great dedication over the last eleven years and wish him all the best for his future projects.

A wealth of management experience in policy and communication

Noé Blancpain has worked with reflecta as a project manager and executive manager in the fields of communications, policy and digitalization since 2019. From 2012 to 2018, he worked at the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research as a personal assistant to Federal Councillor Johann Schneider-Ammann, and as Head of Communications from 2014. Between 2009 and 2012, he worked for the FDP.The Liberals Switzerland party as Head of Communications, among other roles. While a student, Mr Blancpain worked as a journalist and co-founded two start-ups. With Noé Blancpain, Swissmem is delighted to have attracted a leader with proven political and communications expertise. He has extensive experience of both the mechanics of the Swiss political system and the media landscape and maintains a strong network of contacts in the political, media, economic and scientific fields and industry associations. Stefan Brupbacher, Swissmem Director: "Noé Blancpain has wide-ranging experience in politics and communications. We have thus found the ideal person for this demanding management position to make Swissmem even stronger in its political and communications activities. Current incumbent Ivo Zimmermann is stepping down from the Executive Board at his own request after 13 years, and at the same time handing over his role as Head of Division. Swissmem is delighted that he will continue to be involved with the association as a communications expert.
