Nendaz’s first mountain bike downhill trail

Following the completion of an initial section last autumn, Nendaz is officially opening its first flow trail on 19 September 2026. Stretching over 5.7 km, the trail allows beginner downhill riders to try their hand at the discipline, whilst offering experienced mountain bikers a thrilling playground.

Officially named the Flowtrail de l’Alpage, this trail links Tracouet, at 2,200 metres above sea level, to the resort of Haute-Nendaz, with a drop in altitude of around 800 metres. At 5.7 kilometres, it offers a particularly long descent for this type of trail. This flowtrail has been designed to suit a wide range of riders. Classified as blue – i.e. intermediate level – the trail is not very steep and is fast-flowing, featuring numerous banked bends and small jumps. Beginner downhill riders can thus gradually get to grips with the discipline, whilst more experienced mountain bikers will find it a fun route that allows them to play with the terrain and link the various features together with speed and fluidity.

Access via the ski lifts

The departure point is at the top of the Tracouet gondola lift. The flow trail is only accessible during the gondola lift’s operating hours, generally from late June to late October. For this first season, it will therefore remain open every day from 09h00 to 16h30 until the 25th of October 2026, subject to weather conditions. It is advisable to check before setting off. A special mountain bike fare is available to allow riders to use the gondola and enjoy several runs throughout the entire day.

This project was led by Nendaz's local authorities in collaboration with NV Remontées Mécaniques SA and Nendaz Tourisme. This press release provides an opportunity to thank the landowners and operators who made the land necessary for the creation of the trail available, namely the Bourgeoisie of Nendaz, the Bourgeoisie of Isérables, NV Remontées Mécaniques SA and the Balavaux and Tortin mountain pastures. Nendaz's local authorities would also like to thank Bikeplan for managing the project and overseeing the building process, as well as the companies involved in the construction: Sendas AG, HelvePark SA and Allegra Trails GmbH.

A growing range of summer and autumn activities

The development of mountain biking is part of a wider drive to boost Nendaz’s appeal in summer and autumn by diversifying the activities on offer outside the winter season. With the Alpage Flowtrail, the destination is gaining a new feature accessible to a wide number of guests, allowing visitors to enjoy the mountains right through to the end of the autumn season. This new infrastructure complements an existing mountain biking network. Nendaz boasts 200 kilometres of signposted mountain bike trails.

A second trail already in the pipeline

The expansion of the mountain biking facilities in Nendaz is set to continue in the near future. A second trail is currently undergoing the approval process in the Jean-Pierre area. Classified as red, it will offer a more challenging route aimed primarily at experienced downhill riders. The project was put out for public consultation in December 2025 and is now being processed by the Canton.
