Karlsruhe, San Francisco (euro adhoc) - April 12, 2011 - asknet, a leading supplier of global eCommerce solutions for software and digital media companies, has announced its business figures for fiscal year 2010. Over the past fiscal year, the company generated sales of 72.7 million euros, around 5.4 percent up on the previous year´s figure. Gross profits, which represent the growth of the company, went up by 9.4 percent to 10.6 million euros. The gross profit margin of the company increased from 14.0 percent to 14.5 percent during the course of the year.

asknet processed close to 1,620,000 online transactions in fiscal year 2010, a plus of approximately 180,000 or 13 percent. Transaction revenues (sales plus revenues from service provider agreements) rose likewise from 83.7 million euros in the previous year to 94.9 million euros in the reporting period. Two thirds of transaction revenues were generated outside of Germany, clearly reflecting the penetration into the international marketplace by the company. New customer agreements with software publishers around the world, including iS3 and Norman, and the expansion of the cooperation partner network in the eDistribution segment strengthened the global position of asknet. The expansion of the ePortals segment into Switzerland opened up a new revenue stream for the company. This segment of the business contributed approximately one third of total sales in 2010.

The operating result (EBIT) came to -0.66 million euros compared to -1.24 million euros in the previous year. Earnings before taxes (EBT) improved from -1.14 million euros in 2009 to -0.58 million euros in the reporting period. After interest and taxes, the company recorded a net loss of 0.62 million euros for the year, which is a significant reduction on the previous year´s figure of 1.15 million euros. In the fourth quarter of 2010, which is always a strong season, profits before taxation came to 0.12 million euros.

"It is our strategic goal to fully exhaust the potential of our scalable business model," explained Michael Scheib, CEO of asknet AG. "Together with stringent cost control, our international orientation and the consistent expansion of our portfolio and customer base, we will continue to focus all our efforts on achieving sustainable profitability."

The complete consolidated financial statements and group management report 2010 will be published on April 29, 2011.
