World Formula One champion Michael Schumacher has
pulled out all the stops for Switzerland. The Aletsch region with its
breathtaking world of glaciers formed the backdrop for a different
kind of photo session. Leading Swiss photographer Michel Comte was
called in to take the first shots as part of a remarkable image
presentation.
The Aletsch region, one of the world's most impressive mountain
landscapes, provided the setting for a photo session with world
champion Michael Schumacher on Tuesday, 30 October 2001. Leading
Swiss photographer Michel Comte was on hand to take the first shots
as part of a wonderful image presentation. During his career, Michel
Comte has photographed top personalities, including Tina Turner,
Madonna and, of course, Michael Schumacher.
Out of a conviction for his adopted home, Michael Schumacher
pulled out all the stops for no fees and had a great time. The racing
driver's affinity with nature and personal charisma sent out a
positive message during a particularly testing period for
Switzerland.
During UNO's forthcoming International Year of Mountains,
Switzerland Tourism will be promoting Switzerland's nature and
mountain experience. As a top sports personality, Michael Schumacher
conveys a fresh, modern and dynamic picture of Switzerland that will
appeal to people of all ages. The photographs will create a lasting
impression and enhance the country's image as a unique mountain
holiday destination. 'In Switzerland, I find the peace and relaxation
I need', says Michael Schumacher. 'My family and I love nature. We
feel secure here and are very well looked after.'
'We're thrilled and also extremely proud that, with this
appearance, Michael Schumacher will be conveying pictures of
Switzerland to the world in his winning way', adds a delighted Jürg
Schmid, manager of Switzerland Tourism. 'At this moment in time, we
greatly appreciate the support.'
You can find information on the photo-session backdrop (Aletsch
region in the Wallis canton) as well as up-to-date information on the
photo shots with Michael Schumacher at www.MySwitzerland.com.
