Frankfurt Main (ots)

Airlines Provide 4,140 Weekly Connections to 270 Destinations in 104
Countries
In the scheduled passenger segment alone,
Frankfurt Airport's Winter Timetable 2001 - which goes into effect on
October 28 - features 4,140 direct connections per week. This is only
10 flights less than last year's corresponding timetable, although
there had been indications up to last week that some Lufthansa
flights would be cancelled as a result of the September 11 incident.
For the Winter Timetable 2001, the total seat capacity being
offered is 630,000 seats per week. Some 101 scheduled passenger
airlines link FRA with 270 destinations in 104 countries around the
globe. New carriers in the timetable include: Asiana Airlines,
Montenegro Airlines and TAM.
Several new nonstop passenger destinations have also been added to
this year's winter timetable: Bangalore (India), Denver (U.S.A.),
Gdansk (Poland), Grenada (Caribbean), Jakarta (Indonesia), La Romana
(Dominican Republic), Marseille (France), Phoenix (U.S.A.), Salvadore
de Bahia (Brazil), Sharm el Sheikh (Egypt), and Taipei (Taiwan). The
top-ranked destinations in terms of weekly flight connections are
Paris-Charles de Gaulle (118 weekly connections), London-Heathrow
(113) and Berlin-Tegel (107). Other destinations with particularly
frequent connections include Bangkok (28 weekly connections) and
Singapore (25) in Asia and New York-JFK (28) and Chicago (28) in the
United States.
With 260 weekly connections, the number of scheduled direct
cargo-only services has also remained relatively unchanged compared
to last year's corresponding timetable. The majority (225) of these
scheduled cargo services link FRA with airports overseas. Overall,
the cargo timetable features 12 airlines offering regular airfreight
services to 64 destinations in 40 countries. New cargo destinations
are Auckland (New Zealand), Honolulu (U.S.A.) and Manchester (U.K.).
