Leading Swiss watchmaker, Tissot, has been named Official Timekeeper of the 17th Asian Games, taking place in Incheon, Republic of Korea, from September 19 to the October 4, 2014.

The Asian Games is the largest multi-sport Games, in terms of participants, giving 13'000 athletes from 45 countries and territories the chance to compete in the 36 disciplines it showcases. Besides traditional sports like athletics, basketball and cycling, they also feature traditional Asian sports such as sepaktakraw, wushu and kabaddi.

Kim Young-Soo, President of the Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee (IAGOC) stated "We couldn't have chosen a better partner than Tissot to provide these various disciplines with the utmost precision timing. Thanks to their experience, Tissot offers a tailored approach to every challenge, which is ideal for an event like the Asian Games."

Tissot's passion for sport has developed into a comprehensive schedule of high-profile timekeeping partnerships. In addition to partnerships with MotoGP, IIHF, FIBA and multiple World Championships that entrust their timekeeping to the Swiss watchmaker, Tissot was the Official Timekeeper of the Asian Games in 1998, 2002 and 2006.

Tissot President, François Thiébaud commented "The Asian Games reflect Tissot's spirit through the diversity and dynamism they project. Timekeeping requires extremely accurate measurement, testifying to our watches' precision. We strive to improve this essential element, which plays a pivotal role in the Games."

Tissot, IAGOC, volunteers and partners will be working closely to organise the vital services and ensure the smooth running of the event. Tissot will also produce a special edition watch for the occasion. The Asian Games will definitely be an event to be proud of.
