Cuxhaven/Hamburg, 25. 02. 2004 - The Federal Office for Maritime Shipping and Hydrography (Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie (BSH)) today issued Plambeck Neue Energien AG construction approval for the offshore wind farm project "Borkum Riffgrund" This means that work can kick off in 2006 with the first building stage, the pilot stage, involving the initial construction of 77 wind energy installations in the 3 MW class with approx. 277 MW installed output in the North Sea in the exclusive economic zone of the Federal Republic of Germany. The investment volume for the first building phase totals over 500 million euros. Financing is secured by the project partner ENERGI E2 A/S. The project site is situated about 38 kilometres north of Borkum Island.
"Borkum Riffgrund" is being realised by a joint venture between Plambeck Neue Energien AG, Cuxhaven, and the Danish energy concern ENERGI E2 A/S and is the most advanced of the offshore wind farm projects that Plambeck Neue Energien AG is involved in. A later, second construction stage will see an expansion to up to 180 wind energy installations. This would involve the construction of as many 5 MW class installations as possible. In its final form the investment volume for the offshore wind farm "Borkum Riffgrund" will be well over one billion euros. At the same time Plambeck Neue Energien AG is actively involved in the planning and devising of additional offshore projects in the North Sea and Baltic Sea
A supply agreement will see the electricity generated by the offshore wind farm being fed into the transfer network south of Emden.
