LambdaNet Communications launches Lambda-Net-VIPNet, a high-speed VPN service based on IP/MPLS

Hanover, Germany (ots)

LambdaNet Communications, the European
high-speed telecommunications network carrier, announces the launch
of Lambda-Net-VIPNet, an IP/MPLS VPN (Virtual Private Network)
service. Lambda-Net-VIPNet will enable telecommunications carriers,
ISPs (Internet Service Providers), ASPs (Application Service
Providers), content providers and large corporations to establish
Europe-wide private IP networks. The service provides a routed IP-VPN
(Layer 3 VPN) and allows any-to-any communication between a
customer's connected sites. The customer benefits from flexible and
scalable capacity from 2Mbit/s up to 1 Gbit/s.
This first-class service provides LambdaNet's customers with
levels of security and data privacy comparable with those available
with traditional ATM or Frame Relay services. In addition,
Lambda-Net-VIPNet features flexible billing options - including
usage-based billing, allowing the product to be tailored to
customers' individual traffic profiles. The VPN services operate
within an IP address space enabling the customer to use either public
or private IP address space.
Typical applications cover the broadband connection of branch
offices to a central office, interconnection of network islands of
access (DSL/WLL), and connection of network operators up to a
Europe-wide private IX point interconnection.
Lambda-Net-VIPNet is the second of LambdaNet's MPLS-based data
communications services. One month ago LambdaNet launched its
Lambda-Net-DataLink service, a high-speed layer 2 data transmission
service for ATM, Frame Relay and Ethernet-based network.
"With Lambda-Net-VIPNet, LambdaNet is offering customers a further
innovative data communications service with carrier-grade quality.
This MPLS-based service affords operational reliability and is
scalable to ensure a high degree of flexibility. MPLS-based VPN
services will change the existing definition and applications of IP
VPNs", comments Dr. Dieter Finke, CEO of LambdaNet Communications.
