This will be followed by the electronic charging, the commercial operations, on 1 August 2013. Until that date, the existing system will remain. Kapsch and the Belarusian Ministry of Transport and Communications agreed that road users will be able to obtain registration and the required on-board unit at the designated customer service points within this period of time. This will avoid long queues and congestions at the border stations. Kapsch TrafficCom received the order for the implementation and operation of a nationwide electronic toll collection system in Belarus in February 2012. The system is based on dedicated short-range communication and operations are scheduled for a period of 20 years.
