ABB Showcases Pioneering Technology Leadership in Smart Homes and Intelligent Buildings

ABB is showcasing its latest solutions for residential and commercial buildings at the world's biggest international buildings event, Light & Building 2016

ABB, a global leader in power and automation, is demonstrating the future of homes and buildings at its 1,400 square meter exhibition space at the 2016 Light & Building event this week, in Frankfurt, Germany. ABB is showcasing the latest solutions for smart homes and intelligent buildings demonstrating how it supports its customers to improve energy efficiency, reliability and productivity in a range of building types.

With a range of interactive and experiential displays, ABB is showcasing the capabilities of its ABB, Busch-Jaeger, Kaufel and Striebel & John branded solutions. Highlights unveiled for the first time this week include a new wireless home automation solution, ABB-free@home® wireless; enhancements to the ABB KNX portfolio for building automation; several entertainment and lighting control enhancements; the latest engineering design software for building planning, e-Design; and an expanded energy monitoring solution, CMS-700, which can evaluate data from up to 96 sensors.

Technology highlights include:

- ABB-free@home® wireless - the next generation of this smart home 
  solution is the addition of a wireless solution that can be used as
  a stand-alone retrofit solution, or alongside the wired system.  
  The system controls up to 60 functions in the home and is a 
  breakthrough thanks to the ease of installation and simple user 
  interface, which opens up the possibility of a smart home to a new 
  range of customers.  The product will be available in Europe from 
  Autumn this year
- A new range of ABB i-bus KNX IP devices - consisting of IP 
  interface and IP router, they can be used in all applications where
  KNX interfaces with an IP network
- The new ABB i-bus KNX Logic Controller ABA / S 1.2.1 - a flexible 
  controller to enable systems integrators to easily manage advanced 
  building systems requirements, with the latest energy-efficient 
  microcontroller technology and simulation function
- New App solution Busch-ControlTouch® KNX - an intuitive easiest way
  to control the KNX system via mobile devices
- A new energy monitoring system  CMS-700 - this extends ABB's 
  Circuit Monitoring System range with a new open-core sensor 
  solution, which enables the measurement of data from up to 96 
  sensors, with LAN TCP, IP or Modbus RTU protocol compatibility
- A new CO2 ambient air sensor  -  to measure air quality and 
  humidity and adjust fresh air intake
- CogniPoint from PointGrab - a demonstration of a solution to use 
  advanced sensors to deliver occupant recognition and tracking 
  within smart home and buildings applications.  ABB Technology 
  Ventures announced an investment in PointGrab in December 2015.
- e-Design, ABB's new engineering software suite - the new tool has 
  been developed to meet the needs of electrical professionals. 
  e-Design makes it possible to design an electrical system more 
  efficiently
