Gladiator exhibition opens in Vaduz with spectacular displays of gladiatorial combat

Vaduz (ots)

The exhibition "Gladiators and the Colosseum - Heroes and Architecture in the Service of the Powerful" opened at Liechtenstein National Museum in Vaduz with spectacular displays of gladiatorial combat. In a special exhibition, original artefacts from the Colosseum are on display for the first time in the Alpine region and only the second time outside Rome. Also featured are some magnificent examples of gladiatorial equipment from the National Museum of Naples, other original objects from Italy and armour and weapons manufactured using the latest scientific knowledge as well as exciting documentaries and films about gladiators and the Colosseum. The exhibition, which is located in an impressive purpose-built setting, tells you everything you want to know about the gladiators and the arenas created for them. It sheds lights on what it was like to be a gladiator, the highs as well as the lows - information that takes your breath away, even today. This special exhibition will be on show at the Liechtenstein National Museum until 24 August 2014.
