clearly recognizable: the concentration process is in full swing creating new
structures. This also holds true for IT- vendors. With laboratory solutions in
20 countries, CompuGroup Medical possesses global knowledge of the industry for
laboratories of all sizes.
Following the privatization of hospitals and the outsourcing of hospital
laboratories, the laboratory business has been focusing on fewer and fewer
suppliers. Currently in Germany, nearly 60% of private laboratories belong to
large laboratory networks. Furthermore, the laboratory performance is becoming
more and more technical on an international level. Causes for this are high
levels of automation and mechanization, such as the introduction of chip
technology or the POC analysis (Point of Care).
This development presents new challenges for the vendors. The systems must be
programmed in multiple languages and must also do the international standards
justice. It is no longer sufficient to further develop existing systems. Rather,
solutions for internal and external networking and smart management tools which
support the workflow must be made available. So far, the IT market focuses and
operates only on a national level. Few IT vendors have international expertise
and the necessary country-specific market knowledge.
