Wien (euro adhoc) - In today´s Supervisory Board meeting of Austrian Post, Management Board member Walter Hitziger was appointed to the position of Director of the new Mail / Retail Division. Upon expiration of his current employment contract as head of the Mail Division at the end of December 2011, he will continue as a member of the Management Board with responsibility for the new division of Austrian Post, which will encompass both the mail and retail segments of the company´s business in the future.

Walter Oblin has been named Member of the Management Board and Chief Financial Officer of Austrian Post effective July 1, 2012. Thus he will succeed Rudolf Jettmar, whose employment contract expires on June 30, 2012. Mr. Hitziger´s new employment contract will be valid until the end of 2016, whereas Mr. Oblin´s term of office will last until June 30, 2015.

"The decision in favour of two internal candidates is a strong signal on the part of the Supervisory Board emphasizing the importance of continuing and stability", says Peter Michaelis, Chairman of the Supervisory Board. "With the two designated Management Board members, we are ensuring the continuation of the company´s successful business operations by a highly-motivated and performance-oriented management team".

"Both future Management Board members and division directors have already made a considerable contribution to the success of our company in recent years. Herbert Götz will continue to serve as head of the Branch Network Division, and until the end of the year will provide his full support to implementing the merger of the Mail and Branch Network Divisions. This is designed to ensure the effective integration of the merged entity into the new corporate structure and the trusting transfer of responsibilities. "Austrian Post will continue moving ahead with the structural transformation of the branch network. This is based on two strategic approaches i.e. the conversion of company-operated post offices into third-party operated postal partner offices, and the cooperation with BAWAG P.S.K. In this way we will also succeed in expanding and safeguarding nationwide coverage with postal services and the enhanced customer orientation in the branch network", CEO Georg Pölzl concludes.
