    SYNOPSIS:
Sybase, Inc. announces that its industrial-strength relational database
management system, Sybase(R) Adaptive Server(R) Enterprise, is
integrated with SAP(R) Business One 2004, the latest release of SAP's
affordable, integrated business management solution designed
specifically for small and midsize companies.
Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY), a leading provider of enterprise
infrastructure and wireless software, today announced that Sybase
Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE), the industrial-strength relational
database management system (RDBMS), is integrated with SAP Business
One 2004, the latest release of SAP's affordable, integrated business
management solution for small and mid-size businesses (SMBs). To be
available in more than 37 countries and 25 languages, SAP Business
One on Sybase offers SMBs leading application functionality on a data
management platform that delivers both high performance and low total
cost of ownership (TCO). SAP will sell and distribute the combined
SAP Business One and Sybase ASE offering through SAP's growing global
network of more than 650 channel and solution partners. Sybase will
make available migration and support programs allowing SAP Business
One solution partners to offer their applications on Sybase ASE.
"Sybase and SAP are committed to bringing a greater range of IT
solution choices to the SMB market, especially to those in key
vertical industries where we both have a history of leadership," said
Dr. Raj Nathan, senior vice president, Information Technology and
Solutions Group, Sybase, Inc. "With SAP Business One on Sybase ASE,
customers can gain the database performance advantages typically
available only to the largest enterprises, at an overall cost that
consistently ranks among the lowest in the industry."
"Our customers select SAP Business One on Sybase ASE because both
companies understand the unique needs of this market," said Luis A.
Ocharan senior partner/co-founder, CCG International, Inc., a
provider of business solutions for the finance, distribution and
manufacturing markets for U.S. companies and corporations with Latin
American operations. "We are seeing growing demand as more businesses
understand the hidden costs of a database -- like inefficient systems
usage or the need for extensive human intervention. With SAP Business
One on Sybase ASE, our customers can focus on building their
business, not their IT staffs."
Sybase ASE provides SMBs with a high performance platform for data
and transaction processing that is engineered for the lowest possible
costs for systems, management and application development. Sybase ASE
includes built-in self-management and self-tuning tools, wizards to
automate routine tasks, advanced XML and Web services support, and is
a proven leader on the Linux platform. These features, along with
ASE's rich history of highly reliable data management technology,
provide a powerful platform that supports the most demanding
processing environments, accelerates application development, secures
critical company and customer data, and eases data administration
tasks. By better managing information, SMBs can begin to fulfill the
promise of the Unwired Enterprise -- getting the right information to
the right place at the right time.
"Partnering with companies like Sybase helps us and our solution
partners meet the growing demand for SAP Business One's affordable
and easy-to-use business management solution for small and midsize
businesses," said Gadi Shamia, vice president, SAP Business One.
"Sybase allows our customers to work with the platform of their
choice and optimize their software environment to meet their
individual needs."
Designed specifically to be the integrated solution that enable
SMB users to get the information they need, when and how they need
it, to run their business operations, SAP Business One provides
business managers and employees with greater control and visibility
for managing their entire operation. SAP Business One is a truly
global SMB solution that enables new levels of integration between
parent companies, their subsidiaries and the many partner, supplier
and vendor companies that make up the business ecosystem.
