  • The Machinery, Raw Material and Accessories Fair for the Furniture Industry -- FIMMA BRASIL -- Will Be Held March 15-19, 2005, in Southern Brazil
  • 621 Vendors Attended Last Year's Show in March
The city of Bento Goncalves, located in southern Brazil in the
state of Rio Grande do Sul, was founded by Italian immigrants.
Besides being located in one of the most beautiful regions of the
country where temperatures are mild, Bento Goncalves is well known
nationally for the quality of its furniture industry.
The city of 100,000 is a major national milling center, with 350
industries and employing more than 10,000 people. The state of Rio
Grande do Sul has 3,200 companies and 35,000 collaborators, while
Brazil has 13,500 companies and 250,000 direct jobs. The sector is
characterized by a focus on quality (in new machinery, design,
training, new materials and accessories) and an increase in exports,
with the United States, Argentina, France, the United Kingdom,
Germany and others as chief clients.
With this focus on constant development, the Furniture Industries
Association of the State of Rio Grande do Sul -- Movergs -- has
hosted the Machines, Raw Material and Accessories Fair for the
Furniture Industry -- FIMMA BRASIL -- in the city of Bento Goncalves
every other year since 1993. Today the event is one of the sixth
largest in the world.
During the 2003 show, 621 vendors exhibited over a 50,000
square-meter area in the city's Parque dos Eventos -- the largest
air-conditioned exhibition center in Brazil. Of the variety of
companies that participated, 425 were Brazilian and 196 from 20 other
countries. A total 35,000 furniture industry professionals visited
the show. Organizers estimate that the volume of business generated
by the event was around USUSD$250 million dollars, including
post-show activity.
Exclusive support from Eumabois
The European Federation of Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers --
EUMABOIS -- headquartered in Italy, is the umbrella organization for
12 associations representing the largest machine and accessories
manufacturers in the European wood industry. Approximately 800
industries are associated with Eumabois, whose production level in
2002 reached E$5.32 billion. FIMMA BRASIL is the only trade show in
Latin America that has the support of this important organization.
