Atmel Introduces New 0.35 um CMOS Foundry Services with EEPROM and High Voltage Capabilities

Nantes, France (ots/PRNewswire)

Atmel(R) Corporation (Nasdaq:
ATML) announced today the availability of additional foundry services
for a 0.35 micron CMOS process family. The AT35K is based on a 5V
mixed-signal CMOS logic combined with dense EEPROM non-volatile
memory. The AT56K is a 3.3V digital and mixed-signal CMOS with
optional functions for analog and high-voltage (17V Breakdown) needs.
Based on a 28-mask process, the AT35K integrates a 4.5 sq. micron
EEPROM cell allowing to generate 32-Kbyte to 128-Kbyte per EEPROM
block. This technology supports a large variety of chip designs
requiring non volatile memory and 5V compatibility.
With its 14- to 22-mask process, the AT56K offers the analog
elements through modular process options, thus allowing customers to
design cost-effective products. These analog elements include
accurate high resistor, capacitor and zener diode. Together with the
high voltage capability, this makes the AT56K very attractive for a
broad range of high-volume applications such as control sensors and
high voltage drivers.
"These new 0.35 micron foundry services complement the existing
High-voltage and EEPROM 0.5 micron CMOS foundry offering," said
Gaetan Beaulieu, Managing Director Foundry at Atmel. "The 0.35 micron
CMOS with EEPROM offering will be extended by 2005 to support higher
voltage (40V Breakdown)," he added.
To enable easy design-in, Atmel offers complete design kits in a
Cadence environment. These design kits support the entire IC design
flow, including accurate mixed-signal simulation, layout generation
and circuit verification.
Additional services such as Multi Project Wafer (MPW), engineering
runs, assembly and test are also offered to support low cost
development and design validation.
Atmel operates 5 wafer manufacturing facilities using leading-edge
technologies. Its extensive manufacturing is made available to
customers who want to access silicon foundry for their custom
designed IC products. In addition to the CMOS processes, Atmel's
foundry service includes state-of-the-art production lines for
BCDMOS, BiCMOS, Bipolar and Silicon Germanium (SiGe) technologies
that benefit from Atmel's high quality manufacturing and strong
experience in statistical methods and manufacturing tools.
