Berlin, 5 March 2010. Marseille-Kliniken AG (Prime Standard, ISIN DE
0007783003, MKA) is announcing: Axel Hölzer is stepping down from his
post as the company´s Chairman of the Management Board with immediate
effect. This is due to the fact that Mr. Hölzer is suffering from a
serious illness, which will require longer treatment. Mr. Hölzer
today asked the Supervisory Board to relieve him from his duties,
which the Supervisory Board complied with. Mr. Hölzer also resigned
from all other board roles connected to Marseille-Kliniken Group. As
a consequence of this unexpected development, the Supervisory Board
has appointed the company-founder and current Chairman of the
Supervisory Board Ulrich Marseille to the Management Board for a
period of six months in line with Section 105, Paragraph 2 of the
German Stock Corporation Act. Ulrich Marseille will be assuming a
coordinating role on the Management Board. Uwe Bergheim, member of
the Supervisory Board of Marseille-Kliniken AG, will be the acting
Chairman of the Supervisory Board for this period of time. These
circumstances will not have an impact on the development of
Marseille-Kliniken AG´s revenues and profitability.
Axel Hölzer has served Marseille-Kliniken AG since 1995 and held a
variety of positions in finance. In 1999, he was appointed to the
Management Board, initially responsible for associated companies,
taking over as CFO in 2000. In 2002, he was appointed Chairman of the
Management Board. His tenure was driven by expanding the Care
business as well as restructuring and preparing the sale of the
Rehabilitation facilities. The Supervisory Board appreciates Mr.
Hölzer´s decision and would like to thank him for the successful
cooperation in the past years and wishes him the best for his
recovery and his personal future.
