InfoTech Study Shows Rebound in the Global Enterprise Communications Market: Total Line Shipments Expected to Grow 6.5% in 2004

Parsippany, NJ (ots)

According to a new study from research and
consulting firm InfoTech, the worldwide enterprise communications
market has bottomed out and will return to growth in 2004. Total TDM
and IP line shipments are projected to increase 6.5% over their 2003
level. Annual growth in the 4% - 9% range is expected to continue
through 2008.
According to Frank Stinson, program director at InfoTech, "Rapid
growth in the converged market has largely offset erosion in
traditional PBX and Key systems." For 2003, Converged IP system
shipments increased 45% from the previous year. Over the same period,
sales of new PBX and Key systems declined by 28% and 11%
respectively. "We expect this trend to continue over the next several
years, resulting in overall market growth," Stinson added.
InfoTech also concluded that the prospect for continued overall
growth is very strong in all regions of the world. "An aging TDM
installed base, gradual improvements in global economic conditions,
and the spread of mainstream acceptance of IP Telephony from the U.S.
market to other regions of the world, will be key factors in this
shift," remarked Stinson.
