Cablecom business secures major order in Geneva

Zurich (ots)

cablecom has secured an order in Geneva worth CHF
20 million that involves modernization of three cable networks. For
25,000 households in Onex, Lancy and Carouge, the project will
provide access to cablecom's triple play service, featuring digital
television, broadband Internet and digital telephony.
Under this multi-year contract, the three municipalities have
commissioned cablecom to modernize their local cable networks. By
bringing broadband connections and bi-directional data transfer to
25,000 households, the project will enable residents to access the
full range of cablecom products. Triple play is a key feature that
will distinguish cable network operators in their future competition
for TV customers.
Freedom of choice on the last mile
This modernization will benefit cablecom, as well as the
municipalities that own the networks and the end users. Upgrading the
network will enable connected households to access all of cablecom's
current and future services - especially digital telephone as an
attractive alternative to the phone services of the former monopoly
provider. Besides the existing, analog television service, digital
television will also be available to customers in the future. The
target for completion of this modernization project is June 2007.
