Heiler Software announces figures for the third quarter
of fiscal 2002/03 (E)

Stuttgart, August 7, 2003 - Heiler Software AG, a leading provider of electronic procurement solutions, today announced its results for the third quarter of the current fiscal year (to June 30, 2003).
In the third quarter of fiscal 2002/03, consolidated sales totaled EUR 0.8 million, slightly down on the figure of EUR 0.9 million posted in the same period a year ago. Cumulative sales for the first three quarters rose to EUR 3.9 million from EUR 3.0 million in the comparable period in the prior year. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) improved in the third quarter of 2002/2003 to EUR -0.9 million (prior year: EUR -1.0 million). For the first three quarters to-gether, that means a year-on-year improvement of EUR 1.6 million, to EUR -1.7 million.
At June 30, 2003, shareholders' equity stood at EUR 24.1 million (equivalent to 95% of total assets) and cash and cash equivalents at EUR 20.3 million. Heiler Software AG thus remains on an extremely solid financial footing. Brisk demand for outsourcing, application service providing (ASP) and software leasing solutions (as an alternative to simply buying soft-ware) has caused the relevant license revenues to be spread over the entire term of ASP and leasing contracts. Contrary to the planned figures in some cases, these revenues could not therefore be realized in full in the third quarter. This development has improved both the level of orders in hand and the quality of sales revenues. However, the original forecast of sales revenues of at least EUR 7 million and at least balanced after-tax earnings for fiscal 2002/03 as a whole now no longer looks realistic. The Board of Management has therefore adjusted its forecast for fiscal 2002/03 and is currently assuming that the company will post sales of between EUR 5 million and EUR 6 million and improved after-tax earnings of between EUR - 0.5 million and EUR - 1.5 million.
