Aschheim/Munich, May 30, 2005 - On consolidated revenues that were up
slightly against the comparable period, ESCADA AG significantly
improved its profits during the first half of the 2004-05 fiscal year
(year end: Oct. 31). For the first six months of the year, the maker
of women’s luxury fashions generated consolidated sales of EUR 312.6
million, a 2.1 percent increase against the first half of 2003-04
(EUR 306.0 million). Despite still-weak markets, ESCADA brand
revenues were up 4.4 percent, to EUR 208.1 million.
Consolidated earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and
amortization (EBITDA) grew 34.4 percent, from EUR 25.0 million to EUR
33.6 million. Profits after taxes and minority interests were up from
EUR 2.6 million to EUR 6.8 million.

Performance in the second quarter, which is usually weaker because of
the normal seasonal course of ESCADA’s business, was largely
consistent with expectations. Consolidated revenues, at EUR 152.5
million, were down 3.4 percent from the comparable quarter’s EUR
157.9 million (ESCADA brand: down 0.9 percent, from EUR 99.1 million
to EUR 98.2 million). But here account must also be taken of shifts
in revenues to the first quarter, when shipments were larger. The
second-quarter EBITDA rose from EUR 11.0 million to EUR 13.1 million,
and the profit after taxes and minority interests came to EUR 0.9
million (Q2 2003-04: EUR -0.5 million).

For fiscal 2004-05 as a whole, management continues to expect that
Group revenues in euros will grow slightly, EBITDA will increase at
least EUR 10 million, and the Group’s after-tax profit will increase
more than proportionately.
