FRA Summer Timetable 2002: Frankfurt Airport Registers More Flight Connections Than in the Winter Season

Following the recent light decline in
traffic, Fraport AG Frankfurt Airport Services Worldwide reports a
gradual increase in demand as well as a related and continuing
increase in the number of flight connections at Frankfurt Airport
(FRA) - on the scale of last year's summer season.  Thus, for the
Summer Timetable 2002, which goes into effect on March 26, FRA will
offer a choice of 99 scheduled passenger airlines (109 in 2001)
flying to 289 destinations (292 in 2001) in 102 countries (109 in
2001). Of the 4,293 flight connections (4,400 in 2001) planned per
week, some 4,033 (4,112 in 2001) will be non-stop flights. Of the
total weekly connections, 805 will be domestic or German flights (825
in 2001), 2,503  European (2,541 in 2001), and 725 (746 in 2001)
intercontinental. There will be a total capacity of 658,355 seats
offered per week, versus 688,587 last summer.
Routes having the most weekly connections will be Europe's
London-Heathrow with 139, followed by Paris-Charles de Gaulle with
120. The top routes in Germany will be Berlin-Tegel with 114 weekly
connections, followed by Munich with 93 and Hamburg with 88. In
Eastern Europe, Russia will hold first place with 92 weekly
connections from Frankfurt. In the intercontinental category, flights
over the North Atlantic to Canada and the United States - 370 flights
per week - will hold top place.
Regarding scheduled cargo services, FRA's Summer Timetable 2002
will offer 213 weekly connections (272 in 2001), including 118
non-stop connections (141 in 2001). Of these 213 weekly connections,
18 will be European (35 in 2001) and 100 intercontinental (106 in
2001). Over 50 percent of FRA's airfreight will be carried by
passenger aircraft.
