P&G Finalises Acquisition of Sanofi-Aventis' Oral Care Brands

The Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE: PG) today announced that it has finalised the acquisition of Sanofi-aventis' global portfolio of trusted oral care brands for an undisclosed sum.
"Fluocaril and Parogencyl, are leading pharmacy brands in Europe, Asia and Africa with an incredibly loyal consumer following built on pharmacist and dentist recommendation - they are a strategic fit with our current oral care business," said Charlie Pierce, President, Global Oral Care at P&G. "This move not only consolidates our business in major European oral care markets, like France and Iberia, it also provides us with the perfect opportunity to build P&G's presence in the pharmacy channel."
Loyal Consumer Following Built on Pharmacist and Dentist Recommendation
Fluocaril range included the market leading toothpaste in pharmacies in France and #2 pharmacy brand in Spain, with annual sales of more than US$50 million worldwide. Consumers trust and love these products because of their superior performance and professional recommendation.
The two companies are also entering into a strategic relationship in which Sanofi-aventis will continue to manufacture both Fluocaril and Parogencyl for up to 5 years.
