Bern (ots)

BKW has acquired two engineering companies: one in Austria and one in Germany. Austrian engineering consultancy Bilek + Kirschner (IGBK GmbH, Graz) operates in the fields of hydraulic construction, environmental technology and infrastructure and construction consulting. Meanwhile, German firm Kraftwerks- und Anlagen Engineering (KAE GmbH, Hausen) specialises in retrofit projects and verification management in the field of safety for nuclear plants. The two acquisitions will allow BKW to strengthen its engineering service business. BKW is rapidly driving forward the expansion of this area in line with the strategy. This move will also bolster BKW's international activities and allow it to extend its operating area to Austria.

Engineering company IGBK operates predominantly in the Styria region of Austria and is a reputable and well-established business in hydraulic construction, environmental technology and infrastructure and construction consulting. IGBK GmbH will therefore boost BKW's expertise, in particular in the environmental field. IGBK GmbH is based in the Austrian city of Graz. The company employs 26 staff and has generated revenue of around 2.8 million euros in the past few years. KAE GmbH, on the other hand, is based in Hausen near Nuremberg. The company has generated revenue of over 1.1 million euros in the last few years. The engineering consultancy specialises in retrofit projects and verification management for nuclear plants and has also successfully positioned itself outside of nuclear technology in recent years. The acquisitions will allow BKW to extend its existing network of customers and expertise to Austria and Germany. Both companies fit perfectly into BKW's existing engineering service portfolio. It will therefore be possible to exploit synergies in order to create added value. IGBK GmbH and KAE GmbH will also benefit from the transfer of knowledge with BKW and vice versa. Both companies will continue to be managed independently.

BKW Half-year results 2015 / BKW successfully offsets impact of prices and exchange rates

Bern (ots) - The BKW Group posted good results in the first half of 2015. At CHF 199 million, operating profit (EBIT) was well above the results of the prior-year period, although this is primarily due to a positive currency effect on provisions. Excluding this effect, EBIT is on a par with the high level of the previous year. BKW has therefore managed to almost ...
