Mühleberg Nuclear Power Plant
Reconnected to grid following maintenance work

Following the successful completion of maintenance work, BKW Inc. has restarted operations at Mühleberg nuclear power plant. The Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate has been informed of the restart.
The planned work included replacing the shaft sealing in a circulation pump. Monitoring of the components showed that a preventive replacement was required due to slight indications of erosion on the rotating sealing surfaces. A new type of seal with different material composition will be installed as part of the 2013 annual revision. Due to excessively long delivery times, the new type of seal could not be installed during the recent temporary shutdown.
The supervisory authority has been notified that the work has been completed and the plant restarted.
