Mühleberg Nuclear Power Plant: Temporary shutdown for maintenance work

BKW Inc. has decided to carry out various maintenance tasks at Mühleberg nuclear power plant. This work necessitates a temporary shutdown which will start on Saturday 19 and provisionally end on Tuesday 22 January 2013.
The work will include rectifying a malfunction in the cleaning system for a capacitor in the machine house and the replacement of a seal in a recirculation pump in the containment building. Several operational measuring points in the machine house will also be replaced. The work cannot be performed while the plant is in operation. The production loss due to the temporary shutdown amounts to around 36 Gigawatt hours. As things stand at present, the plant will be repowered on 22 January 2013.
The supervisory authority has been informed of the planned work.
