Mühleberg Nuclear Power Plant
Federal Administrative Court Decision on operating permit

Bern (ots)

The Federal Administrative Court has lifted the existing time limit on the operating permit for Mühleberg nuclear power plant (KKM) and simultaneously ruled on a new time limit up to 28 June 2013. The Federal Administrative Court has also decreed that a comprehensive maintenance concept for the long-term operation of the KKM be submitted to the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC) along with a new application to extend the operating permit.

BKW will examine in detail the Federal Administrative Court's ruling, which is not yet legally binding, and decide on how to proceed. A general maintenance concept is already being drawn up with a view to the plant's long-term operation.
