Hoehr-Grenzhausen (euro adhoc) - PRESS RELEASE

SAS invests in IBS AG Quality Management Software

- Homogeneous software system replaces a larger number of stand-alone solutions - Central database at the company´s Karlsruhe site - IBS software solution creates transparent, stable processes throughout the complete product lifecycle

Hoehr-Grenzhausen, 1st June 2011: IBS AG´s software-assisted quality management solution has been in use at SAS Autosystemtechnik Verwaltungs GmbH since the beginning of 2005, supporting in particular the areas of incoming goods and concern and complaint management. In a further step the CAQ (computer-aided quality) system was expanded to include all SAS production sites. In the course of this project phase, older software versions were also replaced with the current CAQ software versions, offering numerous useful functionalities. The global roll-out was completed during 2010.

A further key element of the IBS quality management solution at SAS is the so- called UWAP system (UWAP = Unique Worldwide Action Plan). UWAP enables the consolidation of actions from all SAS sites in a central system. In doing so, UWAP replaces a large number of individual stand-alone software solutions previously used at the various SAS production sites for acquisition, documentation and actions management. Following the successful implementation of UWAP, SAS is now in a position to improve its cross-plant high quality standards.

"Thanks to the support provided by the IBS software solution, the overall control of all SAS-relevant actions is carried out within a single, homogeneous system. The system offers the highest degree of user-friendliness and its multilingual user guidance ensures an even higher degree of efficiency and transparency within our processes. The central data administration and storage, in particular, offer us a whole range of competitive advantages", says Claudia Weber, SAS Project Manager (CAQ), commenting on the successful implementation of the IBS software solution.

The successful introduction of the Incoming Goods Control and Concern and Complaint Management modules, which was executed according to plan, has now prompted SAS to decide for a group-wide expansion of the IBS software solution to include the APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) modules. The pilot phase, which was launched in 2010, will be followed by a test phase in mid 2011 and subsequent worldwide rollout.

"Expansion of the quality management solution to include the APQP and FMEA modules will lead to a further standardization - and thus increase the efficiency - of process flows at SAS. The FMEA module offers SAS standardized nomenclature, in accordance with advanced quality standards (QS9000, VDA, TS 16949)", says Holger Butschek, Project Manager at IBS. "We are delighted that a rollout of our software solution is also planned for Asia, all the more so since IBS AG has started founding its own subsidiary in Shanghai. This will enable us to further improve project management efficiency for our customer SAS.

SAS Automotive Systems, founded in 1996, is a joint venture between Continental AG and the French concern Faurecia S.A. The globally operating company, with head office in Karlsruhe, specialises in the assembly and development of cockpit modules for vehicle interiors. Its customers include car manufacturers such as Audi, BMW, Daimler, FIAT, Ford, GM, Renault-Nissan, Porsche, Peugeot and VW.
