The parking machine manufacturer Metric, located in Swindon west of London, has completed the supply and installation of pay and display terminals to the Isle of Wight. With the latest type of the proven Aura series, equipped with payWaveTM as well as chip and PIN, the customer can also pay conveniently with cards. The Isle of Wight Council is able to remotely monitor and audit all machines from their central office via the Metric web based back-office system ASLAN. For the operator, the management of all 149 kiosks is now more efficient, faster and more reliable.
Mark Downer, the Island´s External Operations Manager (Parking Services), said there had been an `exceptionally good dialogue´ with Metric throughout the project. "Metric also worked incredibly quickly to complete the installation in five weeks."
He went on: "One of the objectives behind this new installation is to make our parking supervisors operationally more efficient. The networking of the machines will allow us to have sophisticated reports so that supervisors can be more proactive because they will know of an event before it happens."
86 parking machines have been installed off street with four located in the Island´s largest car park, which has 250 spaces. More than half of all installed machines are solar powered.
This new customer enables Metric to bolster its leading position in the British parking segment.
