Vienna, 18 November 2009 — The AE&E Group — the supplier of thermal
power generation and environmental systems which forms part of the
listed A-TEC Industries Group — has consolidated its leadership of
the North European energy from waste market by securing an order for
the construction of a thermal waste treatment plant in Vaasa,
Finland. The EUR 60 million contract, awarded to AE&E´s Swiss
subsidiary Von Roll Inova by Westenergy Oy, comprises the furnace and
steam generator, as well as the ancillary systems for the entire
plant.
"This is one of the few energy from waste tenders in Europe this year
— and it is a win for the AE&E Group. The contract award shows that
the AE&E Group will be one of the first suppliers for clients looking
for innovative energy and environmental technology turn to as soon as
investment confidence begins to revive. It is also proof of our
leadership of the energy from waste market in Scandinavia, where we
have over ten plants in Finland, Sweden and Norway to our name. AE&E
began work on a contract awarded by the Oslo City Council at the
start of this year," commented AE&E Group CEO Georg Gasteiger.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Vaasa plant will take place in
November 2009, and it will begin supplying district heating in 2013.
The facility will use AE&E technology to process waste from around 60
municipalities in western Finland with over 400,000 inhabitants in an
environmentally-friendly manner. It will be a highly energy efficient
cogeneration plant.
Optimized energy recovery The plant design is based on Von Roll
Inova´s well-proven combustion technology. The contract is for the
engineering, design and supply of the process technology, from the
combustion and steam generation systems through to the water/steam
cycle, including support and ancillary systems for the entire
facility. The thermal waste treatment plant will process 150 000
tonnes of domestic and commercial waste per year and generate 13 MW
of electricity and 40 MW of district heat, serving over 30,000
households. The contract also contains an option for the
construction of a second, identical waste treatment train.
Expertise, experience and sound design Von Roll Inova´s expertise and
experience in delivering turnkey energy from waste plants was the key
to win the order. Its proposed plant design and excellent references
in Northern Europe also played a major part.
