Impressive quality scores for Nissan in the US
Nissan has scored well in two quality surveys conducted recently
in the US. In the latest JD Power Initial Quality Study (IQS), Nissan
and Infiniti collectively moved to 5th position out of 14 corporate
automotive manufacturers (from 11th position in 2004). Nissan North
America (NNA) was also named as best full-line corporation in this
year's Strategic Vision Total Quality Index (TQI) survey. Dan
Gaudette, SVP of NNA Manufacturing and Quality Assurance said, "The
competitive nature of today's automotive industry demands continuous
improvement of us - or we'll be left behind. And, we're not
finished... because there's no finish line when it comes to quality."
Nissan opens its largest showroom worldwide
On June 4, the world's largest Nissan showroom was officially
opened to an audience of nearly one thousand guests in Oman including
Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn, and H.H. Asad Bin Tariq Al Said, personal
representative of His Majesty the Sultan of Oman. The 3,367 square
meter site became home to Nissan's sole distributor in the city and
the display area can accommodate the full range of Nissan and
Infiniti models and their variants, with space for over 25 vehicles.
Corporate - A month of milestones for Nissan
Nissan prepares for its 10 millionth sale in Europe
Nissan will sell its 10 millionth car in Europe this summer. The
historic milestone is being marked by a series of celebrations plus a
special advertising campaign across the major markets of Western
Europe. More news on the 10 millionth Nissan to be sold in Europe
will follow when it happens.
Nissan celebrates 25 years and 1 million sales in Spain
On May 23rd, Nissan celebrated 25 years of Nissan in Spain and its
one millionth sale. HM the King of Spain, Juan Carlos I and CEO and
President of Nissan, Carlos Ghosn visited the Zona Franca plant in
Barcelona to host the ceremony. The first new Navara pick-up vehicle
to be manufactured was also unveiled on the day to mark the latest
model to be produced at the Spanish plant.
Renault and Nissan open a joint parts warehouse in Hungary
On June 1st, Renault and Nissan opened their new European
Distribution Centre in Gyor, Hungary. Set up as a result of the
growth of Renault group brands and expanding Alliance activities in
Europe, it will provide spare parts for the Renault and Nissan dealer
networks in Central Europe. The new warehouse provides another
illustration of the synergies which Renault and Nissan are developing
within the Alliance in Europe.
Nissan France Run for Life
Nissan France has supported the Red Cross in a campaign called Run
for Life, which was staged at the recent Cannes Film Festival in May.
Nissan France participated at the high profile, celebrity event by
donating a Micra via an auction led by Red Cross ambassador, Adrianna
Karembeu. The highest bid, from an anonymous donor, raised 20,000
Euros and, as a generous gesture, the car was also returned to the
charity. The proceeds will go towards supporting under-privileged
children.

Best Pick-up
Readers of the leading German 4x4 magazine Autobild Alles Allrad
have voted the Nissan Pick-up as "Best 4x4-Pick-Up of 2005". A total
of 34,195 readers took part in the poll voting the Pick-up ahead of
the Mitsubishi L200 and the Toyota HiLux.
Nissan 350Z Roadster beats the Mercedes SLK
The Spanish newspaper El Mundo ran a comparative test of the
Nissan 350Z Roadster and Mercedes SLK 350. The SLK scored highly on
elegance but the 350Z Roadster's pure driving pleasure and its
impressive six-speed gear box assured the final win.
Barcelona Motor Show
At the recent International Barcelona Motor Show, Nissan unveiled
its new Navara King Cab pick-up vehicle and also picked up a 'V'
Prize for technological innovations. This was awarded for its
Barcelona-based factory where a new innovating assembly line called
FMS was introduced, allowing assembly of both the Pathfinder and
Navaras in a flexible manner.
Nissan 350Z picks up award at Kiev Motor Show, Ukraine
The Nissan 350Z has claimed its first Ukrainian award at the
International Kiev Motor Show, in "The Best Sport Car" category. The
award comes just two months after the Nissan created a national sales
company in the Ukraine. Nissan Motor Ukraine was established to
strengthen the company's position in the marketplace, improve and
develop the distributor's network and provide marketing, advertising,
logistics and services support to its dealers in the country.
"Nissan hosts best press events" according to Italian publication
Motor magazine in Italy has awarded Nissan with the title of 'Best
Press Event' during the inauguration of the first Roma Motor Show.
The 350Z Roadster / Pathfinder event was nominated as the best
organized event out of the numerous events that the motoring press
attended over the last 12 months.
