Top brands gather to debate the point of corporate responsibility

London (ots)

Leading brands and companies will gather at the
annual Ethical Corporation conference on May 11-12 in London to
debate both the business case and the overall point of corporate
responsibility.
Among the firms and commentators debating the role of companies in
society and the business case for corporate responsibility are some
of the world's biggest firms and brands.
These include the CEO of The Timberland Corporation, and senior
executives from McDonald's, Siemens, The Gap, BSkyB, BP, Shell,
Coca-Cola, Levi Strauss, Vodafone, Hewlett-Packard, HypoVereinsBank,
Westpac Banking Corporation and many others.
Also debating "What's the point of Corporate Responsibility", will
be the business editors of both the Economist and The Times
newspapers on a lively panel debate at the conference, which aims to
add some rigour to the discussion about how far firms should go with
responsibility initiatives.
The conference, which has been running now for three years, is
known as the largest in Europe and attracts several hundred business
executives and managers every year.
On May 11, the event will debate both the risks and opportunities
major brands are facing up to as government and civil society
interest in their behaviour shows no sign of slacking off. Among the
issues debated is that of human rights risk and how firms can use
responsibility initiatives to achieve long-term commercial and
reputational goals.
"This leading conference aims to really add some intellectual
rigour to the often fuzzy debate around corporate responsibility",
said Ethical Corporation magazine editor Tobias Webb.
