Cablecom adjusts its shift premium policy

Zurich (ots)

Following talks with the Communication Union,
Cablecom has decided to adjust its shift premium policy and to make
retrospective payments until January 1, 2001. Cablecom's new policy
reflects the recent changes to standard practice.
According to a ruling of the Federal Court from December 5, 2005,
night and weekend premiums are an integral part of the salary. In
consequence, such premiums must be paid out during vacation times as
well, provided that employment is on a regular and permanent basis.
Following talks with the Communication Union and employee
representatives, Cablecom has therefore adjusted its regulation for
the payment of shift premiums with immediate effect. In addition,
Cablecom has decided that the premiums will be paid to active
employees retrospectively until January 1, 2001.
"The ruling by the Federal Court from December 5, 2005 brings the
up to now different interpretations of the law by the various cantons
into line. I am very pleased that we have found a solution in our
talks with the Communication Union and our employee representatives,"
comments Thomas Foery, Director Human Resources. Cablecom is in
regular dialogue with both employee representatives and unions.
