Know-how and licence agreement with Bayer AG in the field of 3D-MID circuits Additional material availability secured (E)

LPKF has succeeded in closing another know-how and licence agreement
in the field of 3D-MID technology. The latest partner is Bayer AG.
The agreement covers the acquisition by Bayer of LPKF’s know-how on
the production of modified granulates such as standard PBT and PET.
The objective behind the agreement is the worldwide marketing of
these products.

These special granulates are the basis for the laser technology
developed by LPKF for the production of three dimensional housings
with integrated circuits for applications like e.g. mobile telephone
aerials. The major technical potential and the rationalisation
possibilities are an intelligent addition of conventional circuit
boards.

The materials produced by Bayer from now on are based on standard
types for which the company already boasts a major share of the
global market. The markets targeted by both companies in the 3D-MID
sector include automobile electronics, telecommunications, domestic
appliances and medical technology.

This additional material availability on the world market will
considerably increase LPKF’s opportunities for marketing its laser
systems in the 3D-MID sector.

The income from the licence agreement has an additional positive
effect, although there will be no rapid impact on the overall
financial results. The primary aim is to boost the sale of 3D-MID
laser systems by improving the availability of the materials and thus
have a positive influence on turnover in the 2004 financial year.
