Spanish regulator decides for fair market entry of telegate: Previous DA number has been switched off (E)

Munich / Madrid, April 7th, 2003 - The Spanish regulator CMT made a decision at short notice with an important relevance for a quick start of telegate´s DA service in Spain: The existing and only Spanish DA number 1003 of Telefónica has been finally switched off two days ago on Saturday April 5th, 2003. Besides, the former monopolist will be committed to activate an automated recorded message for four months beginning on this day, naming all new DA service providers and numbers. Every working day rd. 800.000 callers on 1003 will then listen to this information. So all Spanish people will be quickly informed about the new services and numbers.
For telegate AG the market situation is perfect: Except Telefónica there is actually only few competition. Furthermore the telegate number 11811 will be communicated for four months to the Spanish users. By reason of this communication measure telegate counts on a rapid increase of the call volume and on a full work-load of the own call center in Madrid. The Spanish market has a yearly volume of roundabout 230 million calls. telegate will then play a relevant role in this market since the beginning.
