Real Madrid have arrived in China for their pre-season friendlies to be played on August 3 and 6. The star studded team travels to China with their first team squad including the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Xabi Alonso, Casillas, Higuain and Benzema.

The Spanish giants will play the newly promoted side of CSL-Guangzhou Evergrande on August 3 at Tianhe Stadium in Guangzhou while on August 6, the most successful club of the 20th century will be challenged by Tianjin Teda-CSL runners up at the iconic Water Drop Stadium.

An official statement released by the club in its official website read

“On 3 August they will play in Guangzhou at Tianhe Stadium against newly promoted CSL side, Guangzhou Evergrande. They will then travel to Tianjin to take on last year’s CSL runners-up, Tianjin Teda at the iconic Water Drop Stadium on Saturday 6 August.”

Real last visited China in 2005 when the likes of Raul, Guti and Ronaldo were the key members of the team. They participated in a few friendlies and exhibition matches back then too. However the club this time will also be organizing other events in order to bring the fans closer to their favorite stars.

According to Emilio Butragueño, Real Madrid’s Director of Institutional Relations,

“This is more than just a typical pre-season tour for us. We have more than 100 million fans in China and it is a great opportunity for us to get out here to meet with the fans and thank them for their support.”

“We want to showcase the very best of Real Madrid and can assure our fans of a great sporting occasion. But also, as the biggest brand in football, we also seek to explore how we can help grow and develop the sport in China,” the club website quoted Emilio.
