Frankfurt Airport's (FRA) November 2001 traffic results continued
to be affected by the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist
attacks. However, the traffic decline has weakened: with the
Passenger category registering a -10.9 percent change in November,
versus a -13.9 percent change in October 2001. Consolidation of
traffic at major hub airports like FRA has been a noticeable
development. Transfer traffic via FRA has been strengthened by
airline capacity adjustments and route cancellations at other
airports.
Intercontinental traffic again recorded the biggest traffic
declines. In particular, flights to Islamic states, North Africa and
the Middle East, as well as to the U.S.A., were strongly affected.
FRA's airfreight tonnage experienced a -8.6 change in November 2001,
a more moderate decline compared to October (-11.7 percent) or even
September (-13.3 percent).
1 Excluding military flights.
2 Rate of change based on unrounded numbers
