For instance, in December 2010 alone, approximately 800 flights were cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. Fleet capacity utilization for 2010 decreased from 77.5 to 76.8 percent, i.e. by 0.7 percentage points, whereas accumulated capacity increased by 4.7 percent. In December 2010, airberlin welcomed 2,285,974 passengers on board, i.e. an increase of 3.3 percent (December 2009: 2,212,118 passengers, including those traveling on the acquired NIKI routes). At 76.0 percent, fleet capacity utilization surpassed the level of the corresponding month of the previous year by 2.9 percentage points.
